When Life Washes Your Lip Balm
I had one of those days this week that started perfectly. The kind where you feel like a fully functioning adult, ticking things off the list and wondering if this is what “having it together” finally feels like. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
You know those moments when you’re feeling on top of it all?
Laundry done. House vaguely respectable. You’ve finally caught up on everything that’s been nagging at you and you’re feeling just a little bit smug about it.
That was me the other day, pressing start on the last load of washing. The rest was hanging out to dry or neatly folded, separated into piles (one for me, one for Kieran, and one for Enzo).
Then I spot it…
A small, once-proud tube of my favourite lime lip balm, stuck to the inside of the washing machine door.
That’s right. I’d just given it the deluxe spa treatment.
Classic.
When things don’t go to plan (because they won’t)
You know what, sometimes, no matter how organised you are, things just don’t go your way.
You can plan, prep, and put systems in place, but something still melts (or in my case, emulsifies) in the spin cycle.
And isn’t that just the perfect metaphor for business and life? You think you’ve finally got it all sorted, your bookings are steady, your schedule’s balanced, and then boom… something unexpected throws it all off again.
But here’s the thing. When you’ve got the right support system, those little disasters don’t derail you.
It’s all about perspective (and people)
You’ve got people and pets around who help you see it for what it is…
A moment, not a meltdown.
It’s exactly what you do for your clients. You help them (and their animals) through the wobbly bits so they can get back on track feeling better, lighter, calmer.
And it’s what I do for the business owners I coach 1-1, helping them find their footing again when things don’t quite go to plan.
Because sometimes, you just need someone in your corner saying, “It’s fine, it’s just lip balm, not the end of the world.”
I’m in your corner
So, if today feels a bit like a “washed my lip balm” kind of day, take heart. You’re doing better than you think.
And if you’ve been thinking you’d quite like someone in your corner, I’ve got a couple of 1-1 spaces opening up in the new year. If you’re curious to see if it’s the right fit, you can book a call with me.
No drama, just steady support (and the occasional lime-scented pep talk!).
Here to serve you,
