February isn’t just about Valentine’s Day—it’s also the perfect time to check in with your business and ask yourself, “Am I still in love with what I do?”

Running a canine business is a labour of love, but when the day-to-day grind gets overwhelming, it’s easy to lose sight of the passion that brought you here in the first place. Let’s take a moment to reconnect with your purpose, rediscover your joy, and fall back in love with your business.

Why Did You Start Your Business?

As I mention in Chapter 1 of ‘Fetch More Clients’. Your “Why” is what drives you. It’s your story and your values. Think back to the very beginning. What made you want to work with dogs? Maybe it was the joy of helping animals live better lives, creating beautiful transformations through grooming, or sharing your knowledge with owners to strengthen their bond with their pets.

It’s so easy to lose sight of this when you’re buried under client demands, admin, and the never-ending to-do list. But that spark? It’s still there, you just need to uncover it again.

Take a few minutes to reflect on why you started. What’s your why? Write it down, keep it close, and let it remind you of the bigger picture.

Find Joy in the Small Wins

Sometimes, we get so focused on the big goals that we forget to celebrate the smaller, everyday successes. A happy client, a kind review, or even a dog leaving your care looking (and feeling) fabulous—these are all wins worth celebrating.

Start paying attention to the little things that light you up. Keep a journal of the moments that make you smile, and revisit it whenever you’re feeling uninspired.

Audit Your Tasks: What Drains You? What Energises You?

Let’s be honest—there are parts of running a business that just aren’t fun. But often, we spend too much time on those tasks and not enough on the ones that energise us.

Here’s an exercise:

  • Write down everything you do in a typical week.
  • Highlight the tasks you enjoy and those that drain your energy.

Can you outsource or automate the draining ones? For example, could a virtual assistant help with admin? Could scheduling tools take the hassle out of managing social media? Freeing yourself from the tasks you dread gives you more time for the things you love.

Invest in Yourself and Your Business

Sometimes, falling back in love with your business means treating it—and yourself—to something special. This could be:

  • Attending a workshop or event to connect with like-minded professionals.
  • Upgrading your tools or workspace to make your day-to-day easier and more enjoyable.
  • Joining a supportive community, like the Canine Care Hub Club, to stay motivated and inspired.

When you invest in growth—whether it’s your own or your business’s—you’re reminding yourself that what you do matters.

Protect Your Energy: Prioritise Self-Care

It’s hard to stay passionate about your work when you’re running on empty. This February, give yourself permission to take a step back and prioritise you.

Set boundaries with clients, take proper breaks, and don’t be afraid to say no when your plate is already full. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup, and looking after yourself is the best way to bring your best self to your business.

Fall in Love with Your Business Again

Your canine business isn’t just about making a living—it’s about making a difference. And when you reconnect with that purpose, you’ll find that spark again.

So, this February, take the time to reflect, recharge, and reignite your passion. And if you’d like some extra support, why not join the Canine Care Hub Club? With coaching, resources, and a community of like-minded professionals, it’s the perfect way to stay inspired and keep moving forward.

You’ve got this!

With love and gratitude,
